Three days after the last update, Janelle threw a surprise party for Ehren's 30th birthday! We had a houseful of close friends come by to help celebrate - it was a great evening!
In mid-October, we added a new member to our transportation family. Yep, Ehren got another bicycle - they still have two wheels these days and this one is for staying ON the road, rather the OFF the road. You can check it out here.
We were lucky enough to have some company for Thanksgiving weekend at the end of November. Blair & Darlene dropped in again on their way down to PV, Mexico. We also had some local friends drop by to help gobble up some turkey (hehehe). It was nice to have a long weekend to spend with family and friends.
For those that care (or know what I'm talking about), I've set up a web server at home to host our family web pages as well as the Mad Cows hockey club site. Please let me know if you have any problems accessing the site and extra-please bear with me if I have to shut it down for whatever reason. Who knows, my hard drive may conk out someday - knock on wood!
Things have been relatively quite for us over the past 1.5 months, but Emily has many significant developments that you can check out on her webpage (under "Friends & Family"). As of 12/22, Ehren is taking two weeks off from work for the holidays. It will be a nice break and Nathan will also join us to help celebrate Emily's first Christmas. Our next few months will be full of visitors and events, so we'll be a bit busy, but I'll try to get an update here as things happen.

October 2003
We traveled back to Canada for a 2nd time this summer on 8/22. After staying for a short night at Blain & Grace's apartment in Calgary, we continued our trip to Saskatoon. We spent a great week in & around Shellbrook, making it to Waskesiu for an afternoon, to Battleford for a day to visit relatives, and visiting some great high-school friends. While in Battleford, we stopped to get a 5-generation picture taken. This included Great-Great-Grandma Clara Mitchell, Great-Grandpa Leo Mitchell, Grandma Elaine Mitchell, Dad Ehren, and newest member Emily.
On 8/31, we made our way back to Calgary and then High River for another relaxing and fun week. We were able to visit with Roman & Ulyana, and their twin boys Anton and Arthur. We also got to see Blair & Theresa and their daughter Emily. There was time for some rounds of golf and Ehren got to run the bobcat for a couple days while helping Blair on a job-site. We also got to visit more relatives - it was great to see everyone.
Ehren headed back to San Diego on 9/7, but Janelle & Emily got to stay until 9/13. This extra week included a preview of the Canadian Country Music Awards, which was a full dress-rehearsal of the live event later the same night. Seems there was some shopping involved during this week also, hmmm...... Although the vacation was great, it was nice to get home again and back into routine.
Things have been pretty quiet since mid-September, until yesterday, 10/26. That was the day of FIRESTORM, SAN DIEGO, or whatever they called it. Over 200,000 acres have burned and over 500 homes lost, in total of all 3 fires. Anyway, 3 more fires started up, the biggest one being the "Cedar fire", which started in Ramona and made it's way into Poway, Scripps Ranch, Tierrasanta, and the Miramar base. It jumped I-15 just a couple exits south of us. Air quality is poor and we have some ash, etc. It's much worse further downwind though. Fires are still burning and it will likely not be done until later this week.

July 2003
Had a great time in Phoenix. Janelle's team played well but only tied 1 game and lost 2. Ehren's team won all 4 to take the division championship again. No overtime winners for E this year.
Lots of visitors in June!! Mom-Elaine/Grandma came from 6/5-6/24. Lana & Samuel came over from London from 6/21-7/4 and Blair/Papa-Red & Darlene/Nana got here on 6/26 and stayed until 7/3. What a month!
Blain & Grace got married in Swift Current on 7/5! We made a quick trip up on 7/3 and returned on 7/6. This was Emily's first flight, first international flight, first first-class flight (we got bumped up on 1 leg for some reason) and first trip to Canada. She was a great little traveler and did not have a problem with any part of the entire journey. Meanwhile, we had an excellent time at Blain & Grace's wedding. Ehren got to MC the reception, which was a lot of fun. Janelle and Emily just hung out and looked beautiful. It was a great weekend!!
