November 2004

It's been quite a while; sorry for the delay. I've tried to keep it short and sweet below.

The biggest news of the month/year...on July 26th we found out that Janelle is pregnant again and is expecting on April 5th! We're very excited!

July was an interesting month for us. Janelle was about ready to throw out the road bike after Ehren decided to take a face plant off of it onto the asphalt! His story is here (pictures and all). In a nutshell he ended up with about a dozen or so stitches between his lip and chin, 6 new teeth and a root canal. He was finally fixed by the end of September. We won't be doing that again now will we? On a better note though, we did take a short family trip to Boulder, CO the beginning of July. Ehren had to go for business so Emily and Janelle decided to tag along to see the terrain. It was short but sweet and we'd love to go back!

Elaine came to visit in August for just over two weeks. It was nice to have a seasoned traveler back and to relieve Mom and Dad of parenting duties for 4 days. On the 13th we went to Maui for 4 days while Emily stayed behind with Gramma. Everyone did great but we (except Gramma) were all glad to be back! It was great to be able to get away for a bit and remember what the "boring life" was all about! :-)

September was a month of travel for us. Ehren had another business trip to Boulder, and at the same time Janelle and Emily decided to take a trip to High River for a week. We actually got to fly as far as Denver on the same flight which was quite a treat! Ehren's trip to Boulder sure helped the time pass while the rest of his family was in Canada!

September 7th we had our first ultrasound and got our first pictures of Baby van Melle.

In October we decided to drive to Las Vegas for Ehren's hockey tournament for 5 days. We had a great time and once again stayed at the Luxor Hotel. The team did great but lost in the semi-finals. It was great hockey to watch this time around and a lot of fun was had by all. We also decided to take a day trip to Big Bear on the 23rd. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive north east of San Diego and we went to visit some friends that were up there for the weekend. Little did we know that it was about a 9000ft. climb in the car...much higher than expected! Ehren took his mountain bike since the ski slopes are open to bike down in the summer and fall. Emily and Janelle took the chairlift ride up, had lunch with Ehren, and then the guys biked down. It was quite cold up there, in fact, the next weekend the hill was closed as they had 2 ft of snow!

The news of the month can literally be seen on our Baby #2 update page...meaning fetal pictures! We had our 20 week ultrasound on November 16th and once again heard the heartbeat. Things look good and we appear to have a "big" baby...possibly a boy? We won't be finding that out so you'll all have to wait until the Birth Day!
