November 2006

Well, Oct. started off with us waiting for the birth of our niece in Dubai. We finally got the news that on Oct. 15th (and a week overdue) Lana & Samuel welcomed their daughter Isabel Joumana into their lives. She was 7lbs 3 oz. and about 20" long. We've got pics on our web site and will keep updating those as we get more from the Ait's. We can't wait to meet her when they come to Colorado for Christmas!

Speaking of babies, we've got our own news to share that we'll be expecting baby #3 in April! Things have been going well after a couple weeks of feeling green around the gills, and once again, we won't be finding out the sex of this child. We ALL have to wait! :-) Emily is excited and has told us it will be a boy...although she wants to name it Michella (the same name she told Lana & Samuel to name their baby). The other day she popped over and said "so Mom, how's that baby doing today?" :-) We're all quite excited although Jaelynn doesn't quite "get it" yet. We'll keep you updated and we've started a page for baby #3, so keep your eyes on that.

On Oct. 17th we got our first snowfall here. It was beautiful as it didn't get below freezing so the girls had a blast playing outside. It was the first time Jaelynn had ever seen snow and the first time Emily had ever played in it. It was also the first time they both grabbed snow without their mittens and came crying because it "was cold and hurt their hands"! :-) It was gone two days later and they look forward to seeing it again.

The third weekend of Oct. brought the Johnson's for a quick 2 1/2 day visit. It was short but sweet. We took them for a quick hike in the lower mountains in which we discovered there was still snow (shouldn't have surprised us-us silly naive Californians!) so Nathan and Emily came home wet to the knees after running in the snow with only their runners on. We also spent some time in the evening on Boulder's signature Pearl Street and had dinner down there. It was really nice to see them again and the kids were arguing like brothers and sisters again by the end. :-)

Hockey has come to a halt for Janelle although Ehren continues to play. The golf and biking has tapered off although still does exist on the nice days :-) One of Ehren's hi-lights was when he did the $100 burger flight. One of his co-workers took him and a few other people from work on a flight to Colorado Springs. They basically went for dinner and then flew home. Sounded like a fun time!

After looking at pics you'll see that Emily and Jaelynn were excited for Halloween. We had a nice time and Nana and Papa made it here to take in the festivities as well. Emily was Cinderella and Jaelynn got Emily's old princess costume from a couple years ago (next year she can pick her own). Blair & Darlene will be here until the weekend and then will be heading south. About a week after that we'll be expecting Joop and Rose...it's been over a year since we've seen them!

Another piece of exciting news that came at the end of October when we once again became an aunt and uncle! Blain and Grace welcomed Faith Francis on Oct. 28th (5 days early) in Calgary, AB. ! She weighed in at 8lbs and 20" long. Sounds like mother and baby are doing well...check the site for pictures from the proud parents. Our extended family is growing rapidly!

Lastly, Happy Birthday to Ehren! We celebrated by going to an Avalanche game here in Denver when Blair and Darlene were visiting. It was a first for us to see them play live on home ice!
