It's been quiet around here lately. Our biggest news is that the construction on our house has finally started and they've actually poured the basement! Can't believe it's actually going to happen!
We had a quiet Christmas this year as well...but a memorable one. It was so fun with the girls and it was just the four of us here. We went out to check out the lights on Christmas Eve and then on Christmas Day we went to Paul and Karen's again for a lobster-feast! It was amazing lobster and a nice change from our usual turkey or ham we would have on Christmas Day!
Jackie came out for a short visit the end of the month. It was really nice to see her and Emily had a lot of fun playing with her. She left just before New Years and then we had Dave and Anna over for New Years dinner. It was a quiet evening but nice.
Ehren's had a few days off over the last couple weeks so we've had some nice family time and gotten lots of stuff done around here. Our time for play will be in just over a week...when we head to Mexico!

November 2005
Well, we've finally purchased a lot and a house to be built starting in December! A few weeks ago we got the paper work in to purchase in Longmont, CO. This will be about 1/2 hour from Deana and Jay's house-so nice! We're planning on an April move although the house won't be ready until mid summer so we'll be staying at Deana and Jay's until then. They'll have a full house!
Blair and Darlene just left San Diego. They were here for a week on their way down to Puerto Vallarta. We took a trip to Disneyland again while they were here, and had a great time. We had unusually hot weather that day and managed to be in shorts and t-shirts until 10 that night. It was a long day and we had alot of fun. The Johnson's also joined us that day. We also celebrated Thanksgiving this week so we stuffed ourselves with turkey. We went to Paul and Karen's house for turkey day...the first time since we've moved to San Diego that we didn't cook a turkey ourselves!! Blair and Darlene stayed long enough to take part and had to leave the next day.
We will be having our last San Diego Christmas this year. We will have no company so it will be a quiet one. We are planning on heading to Puerto Vallarta in January though for 10 days to visit Blair and Dar.

October 2005
Life's been steadily busy since our last update. We're still trying to pinpoint a lot for our future move to Colorado. We're quite excited about it all.
On September 30th Ehren had a once in a lifetime chance to "ride" with Lance Armstrong. He was picked in a lottery at work to be one of 20 people from Qualcomm to ride a few miles with Lance in the Tour of Hope. He chased Lance's group for about 13 miles. There's pictures for that on the Tour of Hope link.
We were in Canada the last couple weeks for a family wedding. Ehren had a cousin that got married so we planned the trip around that. It's also the first time we've been back for Canadian Thanksgiving in 8 years! We had a nice time visiting family. We stayed with Janelle's family but we also saw all of Ehren's family since the wedding was in Calgary...very convenient for us! Blair & Darlene are building a new house and it wasn't quite "liveable" yet when we got there. They had some close friends that were gone for a week and they let us use their house which was a real help. After about a week we were able to move into the new house and help unpack! Busy times! The girls weren't sure which was Nana and Papa's house for a while there! :-) Deana, Jay and Butters made a surprise trip up and Porky & Ann also payed a visit as well as Cousin Tauna & Jalena. It was a nice time and we didn't even see any of the white stuff while we were there. We had some frost but no snow except in the mountains.

September 2005
Well, we decided on an area in Longmont, CO that we'd like to be in and are currently waiting for lots to open so we can build a house! Yay! We're hoping it should be ready in May...we'll see! We've chosen a floorplan, etc. so hopefully all goes well. We'll keep you updated! Time is going to fly!
Ehren and Janelle are still keeping up with their same sports. Ehren has great news...he was chosen in a lottery at Qualcomm to be one of 10 people who get to do a 3 mile ride with Lance Armstrong in the Tour of Hope on Sept. 29th!! He's thrilled and can't wait! Hopefully we'll get some good pictures for you!
Yesterday was also Ehren's first full day with the girls all by himself when Janelle went to work for 10 hours! He did great and proved to be a real "super Dad". The kids were dressed, fed, clean, and the pizza was in the oven when Janelle got home...Wow eh? He gets his second chance next Saturday...hopefully things go just as smooth!
Elliott & Natalie Chevin, from London, England, took a break from their honey-moon today to drop by for a visit. It was wonderful to see them and we had a great afternoon... good company, a few drinks, and superb food! It was also Elliott's 30th birthday, but we didn't rub it in too hard. We wish them all the best and hope they have a great trip home.
Take care until October when we'll update you again then!

August 2005
We've had a busy month between company. Currently we've got Gramma Elaine visiting for 3 weeks. She's been a real help around the house and with the kids, and actually kept Emily here while we went house/area hunting in Colorado for 4 days this week. We took Jaelynn with us as it's harder to leave her behind yet,and we stayed at Deana and Jay's in Henderson. D and Jay babysat for us a bit while we were out hunting around so it made it much less distracting for us to not have to worry about Jaelynn in the car. We had a great time and have decided on a couple different areas. We'll still have to make a final trip out to pick a house which will determine exactly where we'll be. We're still planning on moving around March/April of '06. We're really excited and can't wait to pick a house!
Not much else has changed. Ehren's started running again and tonight has game 2 of a 3 game series in his league finals (they lost the 1st in OT). Janelle's team lost in the finals a couple weeks ago. We have Sept. off and then more travel plans for October-to Canada!

July 2005
Gramma Elaine has come and gone and we had a busy time while she was here. No company for a few weeks! Whew! We had a nice and quiet 4th of July weekend. We attended one of Emily's friends birthday parties and had some good "family time" with Ehren being home the extra day. On the 7th Opa arrived for a one week visit and to meet Jaelynn for the first time. He helped with the babysitting a bit and made the trip to the Midway with Emily and Ehren.
Janelle and Ehren continue with their extra-curricular activities except now Janelle takes the girls with her to the gym! Daycare on site is a nice amenity and Emily loves the playtime. Uncle Reid may possibly be visiting this weekend and we're expecting Gramma Elaine back for 3 weeks again in early August.

June 2005
Well, we've been busy with company...we had Nana & Papa and Deana & Jay visiting in May when Jaelynn was baptized. While they were here we got in a lot of tennis and took a trip to see the Midway...a retired aircraft carrier that's been made into a museum. We also took a day trip to Julian to have some pie from the Julian Pie Co.
Right now we've got Gramma Elaine visiting. We've been doing a lot of running around here, including a trip to Disneyland last monday. Last weekend we did the Torrey Pines hike with Elaine and the girls, and this week we're going to take the ferry between the mainland and Coronado. Ehren was gone last week for 3 days to Boulder on business so Gramma was his "stand-in" to help Janelle out. We're hoping to make a trip out there in August to check out housing areas. We're also expecting that Oma and Opa will be visiting in July.

May 2005
Life has been busy of course with our newest addition. Everyone is doing well though. We're starting to feel like a "family" now more than ever with our head count at 4 now. Wow, are we really old enough to have two kids?? Ehren and Janelle are back into their usual routine with both playing hockey once a week, Ehren road biking a couple times a week, and Janelle joining a local gym that she tries to get to a couple times a week as well. This last Sunday Ehren did a 50mi. road bike ride in east county with a few buddies of his. He had a lot of fun and manage to finish despite the hot (97F) weather, long climb, and altitude differences...all elements that he's not used to.
We're anxiously awaiting our company to arrive this week. We've got a steady stream of company between now and the end of June! To add to our excitement we're starting Emily in swimming lessons again this month as well. Jaelynn has to be a bit older yet...so maybe in a couple weeks!

April 2005
As most of you know we had a baby girl, Jaelynn Johanna Elise on 3/31/05 at 8.05 p.m. (more pictures and detailed information on our main page). Blair and Darlene made it to help out with Emily so Ehren could spend his time at the hospital with Janelle and Jaelynn. Things went well with a 5 1/2 hour labor and very easy delivery. Janelle and Jaelynn are both doing well and everyone is actually getting sleep thus far! Ehren had 5 days off work so he could spend time at home with his family which was really nice. It has been a great help (and a lot of fun for Emily) to have Nana and Papa around. There's been no lack of attention for anyone so we're all happy. We have plans to have Jaelynn baptized on May 22nd so we're expecting more company at that time. For now we have Nana and Papa here until the 16th!

March 2005
Well, we've had a busy month. On Feb.7th we started potty training Emily and then on Feb.8th Janelle ended up in the hospital for a 4 hour stay with premature labour. After getting some medications we went home and Ehren ended up taking 3 days off work to be at home to help with Emily. It was all in good timing because Gramma Elaine arrived that friday for just over two weeks. It was a quieter visit than she's used to as we had to cancel our plans to go to Disneyland and spend more time around the house since Janelle wasn't always able to be on her feet a lot. Things got better though and as the month went on Janelle was more "mobile".
During this time Janelle took a cake decorating course...sitting once a week for two hours in Michael's was perfect! After a 4 week course she's planning on tackling a Mickey Mouse birthday cake for Emily on the 13th.
On Feb.23rd Aunty Grace and Uncle Blain came to visit, overlapping a few days with Gramma Elaine who was leaving on the 26th. We had a great time with them too and they saw a lot of San Diego. Between our 3 weeks of company Ehren and Janelle managed to get out a couple of times to the movies and a nice dinner at Donovan's! On March 3rd they left back to L.A. to catch their flight back to Calgary.
Baby news? Well, we're getting close! March 4th was our first check up to see if I was dilating. At just over 35 weeks I was dilated to 1cm...the Dr. figures things will be "early"! On March 5th we went to a 4 hour refresher course on "where baby's come from" :-)...actually a prenatal class (revised for those of us "experienced" parents). It was nice as we did get a few pointers out of it all. Today is March 11th and I just had another Ob appointment. I was told to pack my bags as I'm now dilated 2-3cm, 60% effaced, and she's expecting that I could deliver in the next week or so. Not so sure that Nana and Papa will make it back from Mexico for this one! :-) We're hoping to get Emily's birthday done with and then see how things go. Excited? YES! We're ready and can't wait for #2; we'll keep you posted!

January 2005
We flew to Canada on Dec. 22nd to spend Christmas with the van Melle side in Shellbrook this year. It was a busy but nice time. We managed to catch up with several friends back home as well as with Janelle's Aunty Ev & Uncle Ron, and Porky and Ann as well. We ate real well and enjoyed catching up with Ehren's side of the family. We even got to see his Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Stella who came out from Battleford. The journey home was a long day but uneventful thank gosh. We arrived back in San Diego on Dec. 30th, just in time for New Years!
Six days was all we had in San Diego before we were to head south for a couple weeks. We flaked on New Years as the long travel day and two hour time difference got the best of us. We had a relaxing evening at home with Emily and that was it! We attended Luc's 1st birthday party on Jan. 2nd which was a good way to catch up with people in the little time we were back in town over the holidays.
Jan. 6th we took off to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to spend a "late" Christmas and holiday with the Sterling side of the family. We stayed with Blair and Darlene in their new condo which was quite spacious, even with all the people there at once. While we were there Deana & Jay and Lana & Samuel all arrived so we had a great time visiting, playing tennis, having happy hours, and touring around. We took in a bull fight, went on a day cruise (Em stayed with Nana and Papa), did some touring, watched the sailboats, and went to a Destiladeros Beach and Chico's paradise. Aunty arrived the day before we left to we also got to have a short visit with her. It was a great way to wind up the holidays and we arrived back in San Diego on Jan. 18th relaxed and refreshed!
As of today Janelle is 30 1/2 weeks pregnant and growing! Last Dr.'s appt on the 21st went well and there is a sneaking suspicion that the baby may be breach. Hopefully if that's so things will "turn around" in the next 4-6 weeks! We're back into our routine and expecting company on Feb. 11th.
