August has been a busy month for us. We've had a lot going on to start the new year (in relation to school). We started the month off by starting our basement. We're having Jay "do it all" for us! He's the project manager and things have been going nicely! All the framing is done and a lot of the "details" have been discussed. Dry walling will be the next thing to happen and then things will start to look a little more like "something". We're quite excited to have this new space created as it will give us more entertaining space, a roomy guest bedroom and bath, and extra play space for the kids. Finish date should be close to the end of the month and we're excited! For now, the kids love seeing Uncle Jay almost every day as he pops in and out to make sure all is going as planned and the "customer" is happy! :-)
The next big deal is that school has started! School started early this year so the girls have been in school for a couple weeks already. You can read more about their experiences and schedules in their updates. Both girls have been loving it and Janelle's really enjoying the extra time with Evan. Life is a little less hectic running around with only one child for a couple hours of the day. It also allows her to get out with the jogger stroller in the mornings and go for a jog!
Speaking of exercise, the routine continues for the two big people in the household. Running, biking and swimming. Next weekend Ehren will be doing the Buffalo classic which he's chosen to do the 100mile ride in one day. Lots of fun! In Sept. hockey starts for both of us and it'll be good to get the skates on after a bit of a summer break.
Ehren has taken in a bit of traveling lately. In August he took a quick almost "day" trip to Oakland to a wedding reception. It was a friend from University and he met 3 other university friends there...kind of a mini school reunion. Short and sweet and not much sleep! In Sept. he also has plans to go to Ottawa to visit brother Reid. Ehren will be gone for a week and plans on some "brotherly bonding" as they run, ride and swim the week away in Canada!
Another new coming for Sept. is our new Nanny. We have Martha starting with us in September. She'll be here to watch the kids, cook and run them to their activities and school once a week while Janelle works. We're excited to have her a part of our lives as she's great with the kids and has amazing energy.
Lastly, we patiently await the arrival of another niece or nephew. In a couple weeks Deana and Jay are expecting their first child. Baby's ETA is Sept. 14th so we'll see how late the baby is (sorry D!). Blair and Dar will be down for a visit when the baby arrives so we'll get to have a bit of a visit.
